National Conference on Competition
On the 20th and 21st of October, the ninth (IX) National Conference on Competition will take place in Bilbao, under the title “Competition as a motor of economic development”, organised by the Basque Competition Authority
This event will see the participation from BROSETA of the Partner and Head of the Competition and EU Law Department, Sergio Baches, and will explore aspects such as the disciplinary regime of officials in the highest positions regarding the performance of their functions; the fight against corruption in public contracting; the prohibition of hiring with the public administration and responsibility of private individuals for sanctions for infringements of Competition Law; New Technologies and Competition; the challenges of the Competition Authorities and the future of Competition in the Union European, among other aspects.
Opened by Pedro Hernando Arranz, Vice-Minister of Economy and Budget; and María Pilar Canedo, President of the Basque Competition authority, the sessions will feature the participation of, among others, Francisco Gonzalez, of the Competition Authority of Valencia; Joaquim Hortalá, Head of the Legal Department of the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC); César López de Dios, of the Navarre Competition Authority; Antonio Maudes, Director of Promotion of Competition for the CNMC; Juan Luis Gimeno, head of the Cabinet of Presidency of the CNMC; and Kris Dekeyser, of the European Commission.
The President of the CNMC, Jose Maria Marin Quemada, will close the Conference.
