BROSETA increases its business numbers by 32% in the 2018 financial year

| 23 April, 2019

BROSETA closed 2018 with an increase in its turnover volume of 32%, reaching 21.5 million euros (16.3 million euros in 2017), the highest figure in the history of the organisation.  The Firm thus completes the second year of the Strategic Plan 2020 with an accumulated business growth of 46%, from the 14.7 million turnover with which it closed 2016.

The departments of Commercial Law (32% of turnover) and Litigation and Arbitration (20%) represented slightly more than half of the Firm’s revenues during the past year, while the main sectors of specialisation were Banking, Health,  Automotive, Retail, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Biotechnology.

In this sense, for Rosa Vidal, managing partner of the Firm, “the work methodology developed within the framework of the 2020 Plan, based on sector specialisation from a multidisciplinary legal approach, has allowed the Firm to develop a service offering in areas  such as banking, healthcare, automotive, real estate and construction, among others, focused fully on satisfying the needs of organisations from a 360 point of view”.

2018 has also been the year in which BROSETA has begun to carry out business activity in Portugal, with the opening in June of its own office in Lisbon, and a team made up of a dozen professionals who in this first semester of operation have achieved a turnover of €735,000.

For Rosa Vidal, “we reached the target of the Strategic Plan that we established two years ago with a remarkable growth and a considerable evolution in terms of efficiency, sustainability and profitability in the organisation.  This has been possible thanks to the trust of our clients, who are adding more and more to our growth project, and the talent and strength of our work teams, which are the main asset of the organisation and whose technical expertise and knowledge of the  market allow us to have an agile approach and be fully adapted to the needs of the client”.

Plan 2020

BROSETA has from 2017 been carrying out the Strategic Plan 2020 of the Firm, a four-year roadmap that aims to consolidate the organisation among the reference legal firms in Spain, and which contemplates an ambitious scenario of  growth based on a partnership proposal with the client supported by the incorporation of teams and lawyers of recognised excellence, the promotion of the focused internationalisation of services and the connection with the best talent in the market.

Thus, during these first two years of executing the 2020 Plan, the Firm has incorporated into its teams such professionals such as Agustín Puente, former Head of Legal Services of the Spanish Agency for Data Protection, who has joined as a partner in the area of  IP/IT and Digital Environments;  Carlos Gutiérrez, from Baker McKenzie, to head the Banking and Financial department in Madrid;  José Manuel Sipos, from PwC, as director of the Competition department;  Alberto Palomar, Magistrate on leave of absence, as a partner in the Public Law department, and Jesús Carrasco, from Squire Patton Boggs, a new partner in Litigation.  Also, at the beginning of 2018, the Firm Copa & Asociados Abogados, a law firm specialised in Employment Law led by the partners José Manuel Copa and David López, joined BROSETA.

In the international arena, BROSETA in 2018 took another step forward in its internationalisation strategy with the opening of an office in Lisbon, after integrating the firm Roquette, Morais e Guerra, formed by a dozen professionals led by partner Álvaro Roquette.  The Lisbon office is the second physical headquarters of the Firm outside of Spain, together with the presence of the organisation in Zurich, Switzerland, since 2013. This international vocation is completed with the leadership of BROSETA in the Iberoamerican Legal Network, a  alliance of legal firms in Latin America that has a presence in 15 countries and serves the entire continent through more than 400 lawyers.
